Economic management in the municipality is carried out by 109 entities:

The economy is based on two priority sectors: sugarcane and agriculture, with a fundamental participation of the commerce, gastronomy and services sectors, due to the wide range of services they provide, as well as the participation of their contributions to the municipal budget.

The main economic activity of the municipality is developed in the UEB Atención a Productores agropecuarios, which has a total area of 20683.1 hectares, of which 13917 ha to supply the raw material cane and 6766. The UEB Sugar Factory, which has a potential capacity of 5750 tons of cane in 24 hours of milling, also influences in the territory the agricultural activity through the UEB Agricultural Cacocum and in the part of the Iron and Steel Industry we have the Electric Motors Company, unique in the country, designed for the construction and repair of electric motors of different types, as well as other types of services that are performed there.
